AwareData is a tool that reassures users of SingularityNET that safety and risk concerns have been carefully considered in the design and implementation of products and services across the platform. An auditing service agent that provides empirical measurements of bias and safety, AwareData also highlights human user and expert opinion through integration with and reinforcement of SingularityNET's reputation systems.
By integrating AwareData, a transparent check and balances service into the SingularityNET ecosystem of AI products and agents, we are working on the model of a decentralized community of care and mutual responsibility. The visualization data will demonstrate potential areas of concern and risk assessment. As its own agent it can be used as a stand alone tool for engineers to evaluate their code. Within the fast-pace of tech development, the collaboration with developers for building the AwareData service allows an outlet for sharing of best practice and trouble-shooting risk (a conversation that could otherwise 'fall through the cracks'). AwareData, when integrated into reputation systems, provides back up evidence for expert reviewers on the SingularityNET decentralized marketplace. As for the bigger picture, we can envision a shifting terrain in the operation of AI, one in which an automated system of risk and safety (by default) operates alongside AI.
SciFi narratives haunt the reception of AI - even inspiring the writing of protective legislative proposals. SingularityNET has yet to coordinate systems to assess algorithmic bias and risk across the platform, missing opportunities to connect more widely with stakeholders. AwareData provides a communication mechanism for directly addressing fears and concerns of AI, demonstrating thoughtful engagement with risk and safety, helping to proactively position SingularityNET in this shifting terrain.
AwareData is an auditing service that is both human and machine interpretable, necessarily having the capacity to evolve in an agile manner as new AI algorithms and methods of bias measurement and mitigation emerge. Starting with Rejuve.bio as our initial case study, we will work with key team members in order to identify, test and evaluate further areas of potential risk and safety, collaborating across the SingularityNET network.
