CEDCOMS is an AI-driven platform that detects rising tensions within communities (online and offline) and facilitates early intervention by alerting peacekeepers, mediators, and civil society actors. It uses Natural Language Processing (NLP), social media analysis, and community data to predict potential conflicts before they escalate, offering tailored de-escalation strategies and connecting affected groups with conflict-resolution experts or local mediators.

Problem description

In many regions around the world, small disputes snowball into violent conflicts due to a lack of early warning, poor communication between communities, and delayed peacekeeping responses. Misinformation, hate speech, and identity-based discrimination—often spread online—further aggravate tensions. There’s currently a gap in technology that can monitor these red flags in real-time and trigger peaceful interventions before it's too late.
