The BGI Collective is an initiative focused on understanding and shaping the future of AI to ensure it is safe, ethical, and beneficial for all of humanity. Using AI to assess information that people consume to avoid misinformation and bias aligns with the goal of helping humanity. Such effort like VeriBeacon project is crucial in preventing conflicts and disturbance fueled by false information, thereby contributing to a safer and a more informed society with the help of AI.

Problem description

As of April 2025, over 120 million people are displaced due to conflicts, with regions like Sudan, Ukraine, and parts of Africa grappling with information wars that fuel hostility. News articles often fail to be non-partisan and honest about situations. VeriBeacon addresses this by providing a standalone platform that curates and debiases news to combat misinformation, offering reliable, verified information through AI and user engagement.

Proposed Solutions

News Aggregation and Analysis: Using AI we analyse news articles to detect bias, misinformation, and hate speech.
Community-Driven Fact-Checking: Allows users to contribute notes, corrections, or evidence (e.g., photos, testimonies) via a secure pseudonymous interface.
Curated News Digests: deliver personalized (eg: proximity based) news feeds summarizing events from multiple perspectives. Highlights verified facts, discrepancies, and community discussions on contentious issues.
