Alignment with DF goals (BGI, Platform growth, community)
Living Map" is an AI-based solution that maps and monitors in real time areas at risk from landmines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Using satellite images, historical data, and local reports, the platform creates updated community maps. It also offers an offline educational assistant accessible via basic phones and community radio, with visual and interactive content for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. The assistant teaches how to recognize danger signs, what to avoid, and how to contact support networks, turning residents into active agents in prevention and hazard marking.
Problem description
In conflict-affected regions, over 100 million people face risks from landmines, explosive remnants, and IEDs. These devices harm civilians, block aid, and stall development. Children, the elderly, and people with disabilities are especially vulnerable. A lack of real-time updates and poor communication between communities and authorities leave danger zones unmarked, raising the risk of new victims and hindering demining and recovery efforts
Proposed Solutions
Living Map" integrates AI, geospatial data, and community input to map risk areas with landmines and IEDs. It analyzes satellite images, records, and local reports via app, SMS, or radio to identify and mark danger zones. An offline assistant teaches, in simple and visual language, how to spot risks and stay safe. The solution strengthens local prevention, supports demining efforts, and helps reclaim war-affected areas, saving lives and empowering communities.
