Alignment with DF goals (BGI, Platform growth, community)
"Invisible Voices" is an AI-based solution focused on the mental health of women and girls in zones of conflict, repression, and forced displacement. The platform offers a multilingual, empathetic, and discreet virtual assistant that works offline and features a neutral appearance to protect users in hostile environments. Using trauma-sensitive natural language processing, the AI identifies signs of psychological distress—such as depression, PTSD, and anxiety—and provides emotional support, self-care exercises, encouragement messages, and, when possible, connection to local support networks. The solution prioritizes anonymity, inclusive access, and digital safety. In addition to individual support, it generates anonymized data to help humanitarian organizations understand the mental impact of war on women and girls—turning silence into care and isolation into healing.
Problem description
Over 600 million women and girls live in areas affected by armed conflict. They face repression, violence, and displacement, with their identities often erased. The psychological impact is severe—depression, anxiety, PTSD, and suicide attempts are common. Yet, only 1–2% receive proper care due to a lack of professionals, stigma, and danger in speaking out. Many lack words to express their pain. Trauma grows in silence, with no safe spaces for support.
Proposed Solutions
"Invisible Voices" is a multilingual, empathetic AI that offers safe emotional support to women and girls in conflict zones. It works offline with a disguised interface, detects signs of mental distress, offers self-care tools, and connects users to local support when possible. It respects anonymity, adapts to cultural context, and generates anonymized data to support public policies and humanitarian action. A bridge between silent trauma and the start of healing.
