Motivator: AGI Motivation Engine Prototype

Expert Rating

n/a

Overview

We’re building a modular motivation engine that lets digital agents adapt and prioritize tasks based on internal and external context. Inspired by but not bound to models like Maslow and OpenPsi, the system simulates shifting motivational weights—helping agents decide when to explore, assist, or conserve. The prototype (in Node.js/TypeScript) will serve as a plug-and-play base for use cases like chatbots and metaverse avatars. Alongside it, we’ll publish a detailed framework mapping the design to Hyperon components (ECAN, DAS, MeTTa). This is early, foundational work—focused on clarity, modularity, and real-world utility.

Develop a modular and extensible framework for integrating various motivational systems into AGI architectures, supporting both human-like and "alien digital" intelligences. This could be done as a highly detailed and precise specification, or as a relatively simple software prototype with suggestions for generalization and extension. Bids are expected to range from $15,000 - $30,000.

Milestone 1 - Title: Conceptual Framework & System Design

Description

Define the core architecture and design principles for the motivation engine. Ground the model in established frameworks (e.g., Maslow, OpenPsi), and adapt for digital agents operating under AGI logic.

Deliverables

– Research plan – Modular system design diagram – Motivation flow logic (e.g., weighting, rebalancing, context triggers) – Explanation of intended PRIMUS/Hyperon touchpoints (ECAN, DAS, MeTTa)

Budget

$6,000 USD

Success Criterion

Written framework completed, reviewed, and published (Markdown or PDF) with diagrams. Clear mappings to AGI components and potential extensions for Hyperon/PRIMUS.

Milestone 2 - Prototype Development & Testing (LIVE DEMO INSIDE)

Description

– Working prototype (GitHub repo) – Demo script or interface – Sample motivational profiles – Code comments and setup documentation

Deliverables

– Public GitHub repo with interactive demo: github.com/nblogist/motivator-prototype (Check it out) – CLI-based engine (npm start -- <userNeed> <threatLevel>) and demo.sh with real-world scenarios – Updated README with usage/playground instructions

Budget

$12,000 USD

Success Criterion

Reviewers can clone the repo, run npm install && npm start -- or ./demo.sh, and observe the printed motivation weights and chosen action matching documented scenarios.

Milestone 3 - Final Report & Open Source Launch

Description

Finalize all documentation and analysis. Package the system under GNU GPL, publish to GitHub, and submit a full technical report with evaluation of outcomes and future pathways.

Deliverables

– Public GitHub repo (GPL) – Final report (PDF or site) – Optional: lightweight UI for sim testing – Future extension plan (e.g. MeTTa expression layer)

Budget

$12,000 USD

Success Criterion

Publicly accessible repo with working code, walkthroughs, and future roadmap. Evaluation includes alignment potential with AGI ethics, adaptability, and real-world agent use.
