, but only

. One of the causes is that they can't find jobs that align with their purpose and skills. Socious AI curates purpose-driven jobs and matches them with talented individuals based on their passion for social and environmental causes, as well as their skills.

Problem Description

The problem that our project aims to address is the significant gap between the desire of young people to use their skills for good and their ability to do so. Despite

, only

. This disparity is largely attributed to the difficulty in finding impact jobs among millions of job postings that include both impact and non-impact jobs. Current job search platforms lack necessary filtering options and matching mechanisms, making the job search process cumbersome and time-consuming. As a result, young individuals often spend hours sifting through thousands of irrelevant listings, which hinders their aspirations to make a difference.

Significance of Solving the Problem: Addressing this problem is crucial for several reasons. First, it will enable a larger percentage of young people to contribute positively to society, thereby fostering a more compassionate, just, and sustainable world. Second, it will optimize the job search process, reducing the time and effort wasted on irrelevant job listings, and consequently increasing overall productivity. Lastly, by facilitating the match between job seekers and impact jobs, we can ensure that organizations with a focus on social good are able to secure the skilled and passionate workforce they need to achieve their missions.

Alignment with SingularityNET's Vision and Mission: Socious, as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), aligns seamlessly with SingularityNET's vision and mission. By harnessing the power of decentralized AI, Socious will create a more efficient and fair job matching platform, contributing to a fairer distribution of power, value, and technology in the global commons. Solution Description

Socious is a decentralized autonomous organization that leverages Machine Learning (ML) algorithms to match purpose-driven talent with impact jobs and organizations. Our innovative approach considers not only the skills, experience, and location of individuals but also their passion for social and environmental causes. This ensures that talent finds jobs that are meaningful to them and the world, while organizations can hire individuals who are genuinely passionate about their mission.

Our solution comprises two distinct components:

  1. Impact Job Detector: An AI Model using Natural Language Processing (NLP) to detect impact jobs. Our 'Smart Aggregator' curates a selection of impact job opportunities that align with your skills, interests, and passion for driving change, thereby alleviating the stress of searching for impact jobs.

  2. Impact Job Matching: A ML-based recommender engine that matches purpose-driven talent with impact jobs. Our engine learns from users' behaviors on the Socious app, including posts, likes, comments, shares, and connections, to understand their passion and match them with suitable job opportunities.

Project Benefits for SNET AI platform

Our solution aligns with SingularityNET's mission of developing decentralized AI for a beneficial technological Singularity. By open-sourcing our ML-based recommender engine, we contribute to the development of decentralized human-level intelligence and enable other organizations to benefit from our work, thereby creating a more compassionate, just, and sustainable world.

Revenue Sharing

We have planned for a token launch in Q1 2024 with our utility token, THANK, designed for the Socious platform. THANK token holders can invest, lend, donate to impact organizations on Socious, purchase sustainable products, and earn more THANK through staking or contributing to the decentralized platform - including content moderation, verification, and dispute resolution. Further details of the tokenomics can be found in our whitepaper

.

As a gesture of goodwill and commitment to the success of our project, if awarded by Deep Funding, we will voluntarily allocate 500 million THANKs, which is 10% of the pre-seed round allocation, to SNET/Deep Funding.

Marketing & Competition

Market Analysis According to a Porter Novelli

, 93% of employees want companies to lead with Purpose, and 88% want companies to positively impact society. This shift towards purpose-driven work is further highlighted by a Gartner

predicting a workforce more driven by purpose and passion, not just money. Additionally, a recent

indicated that 42% of Gen Zs would prefer working at a company that gives them a sense of purpose rather than one that pays more.

Target Audience Our target audience is millennials and Gen Zs who are seeking to use their skills for social and environmental good. In the context of the

, many have quit their corporate jobs in search of meaningful work where they can make a difference for the world and for their well-being. Gen Z, born between 1997 to 2012, is on track to surpass Millennials as the most populous generation, with experts estimating they will make up 30% of the global workforce in 2030.

Competitors and Socious’ Advantages Our main competitors include Upwork and Work for Impact. Socious has a significant advantage over Upwork as we focus on purpose-driven talent and impact jobs, whereas Upwork is a general freelance platform. For instance, Upwork’s ML-based algorithms match freelancers with gigs based on their skills and experience, while Socious’ recommender engine also considers the talent’s passion for social causes. Moreover, Socious uses blockchain-based incentive mechanisms, including impact points and THANK tokens. Freelancers earn impact points when working for impact organizations and get rewarded in crypto tokens. Because Socious is transitioning to a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), users can vote on important matters such as treasury fund allocation. Upwork does not have these features. Although Work for Impact is focused on impact organizations like Socious, it does not have an ML-based recommender engine or blockchain-based incentive/DAO mechanisms.

Go-to-market Strategy Our strategy is to focus on specific target segments first and then expand to other segments. Initially, we are targeting climate tech companies and connecting them with tech talent. We list as many impact jobs as possible on the platform and then onboarded purpose-driven talent. Our growth strategy is based on three main pillars: partnerships, content marketing, and community building.

Partnerships: We aim to onboard many impact startups (and their jobs/gigs) in bulk by partnering with networks of impact startups such as venture capital firms with impact startups in their portfolio. For example, we have partnered with 500 Startups, Hustle Fund, Shizen Capital and many others to onboard their portfolio impact startups on our platform.

Content Marketing: We are creating shareable content to raise awareness of Socious organically. For instance, we have launched a web magazine,

, through which we interview social changemakers and highlight their passion, struggles, and life lessons.

Community Building: We are fostering a sense of community by organizing events, job fairs, and referral programs. For example, there are incentives to refer friends to join our community or refer jobs to their friends.

Current Traction

Thanks to our robust go-to-market strategy, we have successfully listed more than 70,000 impact jobs on our platform, registered over 22,000 impact organizations, and attracted more than 5,000 purpose-driven professionals. Collectively, these individuals have contributed over 3,000 hours to various impact organizations, and we are now generating revenue.

Furthermore, we have been selected to participate in several prestigious acceleration programs, including:

  • Microsoft for Startups

  • 500 Startups

  • Milkomeda Incubator

  • X-Hub Tokyo’s Global Startup Accelerator’s Europe Outbound Program, sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government

  • X-Hub Tokyo’s Global Startup Accelerator’s UK Outbound Program, sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government

  • Got funded and completed 5 Project Catalyst projects

These achievements not only validate our business model but also demonstrate the significant demand for a platform that connects purpose-driven professionals with impact organizations.

Moreover, by operating as a DAO and open-sourcing our solution, Socious contributes to the foundation for the emergence of decentralized human-level intelligence, as advocated by SingularityNET.

Our Solution

How It Works

  1. Data Collection: Users provide information about themselves and their preferences by answering a short questionnaire when they sign up and interacting with the app. This information includes social causes they are passionate about, location, skills, experience, education, and more. Additionally, we collect data on job and organization profiles and their interactions on the app.

  2. Job Detection: Our AI, trained using existing data on impact jobs, searches the web to identify, aggregate, and list impact jobs on the Socious platform.

  3. Job Matching: Our ML-based recommender engine uses a mixture of methods such as Jaccard similarity, semantic similarity, and score card model to match purpose-driven talent with impact jobs.

Our solution does not require much effort from talent or organizations as the ML-based recommender engine operates seamlessly in the background, learning from users' interactions on the app to continuously improve the matching recommendations.

Ensuring the Quality and Reliability of the Impact Job Detector

To guarantee the highest quality of social impact job postings, we follow a meticulously crafted protocol that scrutinizes both the posting organizations and the content of the job advertisements themselves. Here's how we go about it:

  1. Verification of Posting Organizations: We validate that the job ads originate from verified impact organizations or recognized departments like Sustainability or Diversity and Inclusion within organizations, hence designating them as impact jobs.

  2. Content Analysis of Job Ads: Our system analyses the job ads to ensure they:

    • Incorporate terminology associated with social impact causes, such as “promoting financial inclusion”.

    • Specify social and environmental impact considerations in the job requirements.

    • Highlight opportunities to contribute to social or environmental betterment in the job benefits.

We consider these elements holistically, ensuring that the job posts meet a high standard of authenticity and relevance to social impact goals.

  1. Leveraging a Rich Database: Our AI is trained using data from over 22,000 impact organizations and 80,000 impact jobs, enabling it to recognize and source similar jobs from the web proficiently.

  2. Supervised Learning for Enhanced Accuracy:

    • Initial Stage: During the foundational stage, our team manually reviews every job identified by the Impact Job Detector to classify them appropriately, ensuring a rigorous supervised learning process.

    • Pre-Launch Assurance: We are committed to launching the feature only when we attain a 99.9% accuracy rate in identifying true impact jobs.

  3. Community Engagement for Continuous Improvement:

    • Post-Launch: Even after the launch, we welcome users to report any jobs they perceive not to align with the “impact job” criteria, aiding us in continually refining the accuracy and reliability of the Impact Job Detector.

This multifaceted approach ensures that users can trust the quality and authenticity of the jobs presented, fostering a platform that truly supports purpose-driven employment.

How to Ensure the Quality of Impact Job Matching

Our impact job matching system is designed to foster meaningful connections between organizations and potential employees. Leveraging a rich array of data through a meticulous two-tiered approach, we ensure a high degree of precision and relevance in our matching process. Here’s how:

1. In-Depth Analysis of Organizations and Job Listings

We prioritize a detailed understanding of the organizations and the job listings they provide. This involves:

  • Soliciting Comprehensive Details: Organizations are encouraged to present detailed profiles and thorough job advertisements, laying a solid foundation for our matching process.

  • Monitoring App Behavior: We deepen our dataset by analyzing various organization behaviors within the app, such as:

    • Publication trends

    • Engagement patterns with different profiles

    • Hiring preferences and feedback on candidate recommendations, which they can label as “fit” or “not fit”

For further insights into the data we collect from organizations, you may refer to the following documents:

2. Profiling Candidate Preferences and Engagement

Understanding candidate preferences and behaviors forms the second pillar of our strategy. We do this by:

  • Encouraging Detailed Profiles: Candidates are urged to build comprehensive profiles that serve as the initial guide for matching.

  • Analyzing In-App Activities: A continuous analysis of candidates' in-app behaviors, including:

    • Engagement with posts and content

    • Networking actions such as connections and follows

    • Job-related activities and feedback from organizations

    • Response patterns to previous recommendations, which help refine future suggestions

    • Insightful search histories that depict evolving interests

Risk and Mitigation

We may face potential risks associated with the execution of project. However, we have mitigation strategies for each risk.

  1. Data Inaccuracy: The AI algorithms may pull in irrelevant jobs from the web that do not align with the impact-driven focus of the platform.

    • Mitigation Strategy: Implement a robust data validation process, continuously monitor and refine the AI's criteria for selecting jobs, and implement a manual review process for jobs before they are listed on the platform.

  2. Delays in Project Timeline: Various unforeseen issues may arise causing delays in the project timeline such as technical challenges, unavailability of key team members, or changes in project requirements.

    • Mitigation Strategy: Develop a detailed project plan with a buffer for unexpected delays, regularly monitor progress against the plan, and have contingency plans and budgets in place for key areas of risk.

  3. User Acceptance: Users may not find the recommendations provided by the AI algorithm to be useful or relevant.

    • Mitigation Strategy: Conduct thorough user research and testing during the development phase, continuously gather feedback from users and make necessary adjustments to the algorithm.

  4. Hosting/API Call Costs: Hosting and API call costs may end up being higher than anticipated.

    • Mitigation Strategy: Monitor usage closely, optimize for cost-efficiency, and have a contingency fund in the budget for unexpected costs.

Voluntary Revenue
