BridgingSpace is in a class of innovative health-tech start-ups, focused on providing access to affordable and stigma-free mental health support or teletherapy from their devices. Establishing a platform that breaks the barriers of communication through AI-assisted technology, allows therapists and users to interface seamlessly. The pre-feasibility studies leveraged a robust Monte Carlo simulation( Quantic, 2023) 6 It uses a combination of chatbots, NLP, ML, & RE to provide therapy.

The core problem we are aiming to solve

Mental health challenges are a major problem in Africa. According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 4 people in Africa (450 million people) will experience a mental health disorder in their lifetime. These conditions can have a devastating impact on people's lives, placing mental disorders among the leading causes of ill health and disability worldwide(WHO, 2021).

Across the African Continent, more than 116 million people were already estimated to be living with mental health conditions pre-pandemic. This has seen an estimated 25% global rise in depression and anxiety postCOVID-19 pandemic with over 80% of them being unable to access mental health services due to poor awareness, long wait times, and inflexible traditional therapy( World Mental Health Day, 2022). 3 Research data shows that 25-30% of Nigerians (at least 70 million people) suffer from mental disorders (Wikipedia 2023)28. The majority of them do not seek professional help due to poor awareness, long wait times, and inflexible traditional therapy. 

Our specific solution to this problem

BridgingSpace is in a class of innovative health-tech start-ups, focused on providing access to affordable and stigma-free mental health support or teletherapy from their devices. Establishing a platform that breaks the barriers of communication through AI-assisted technology, allows therapists and users to interface seamlessly. Through the use of AI-assisted technology, we can maximize the usefulness of this unique approach, and be up-to-date on new global AI trends.

The first movers in the teletherapy space in-country are largely subscription-based which means that if the client's problem is resolved in one therapy session, they need to hang on to use up their subscription. 

 

While Wysa leverages AI-enabled service, it is not an indigenous brand and there may be cross-cultural differences in the interpretation of mental health manifestations. While it may have subscribers in Nigeria in the B2C space, it cannot be regarded as a dominant competitor since it has almost negligible influence on BridgingSpace’s B2B model. Akoma Health offers pay-per-session pricing, which is about 3 times the pricing for others which may be prohibitive in a market where the care provided is similar in many respects. 

BridgingSpace’s approach to B2B is very proactive and involves forming strategic partnerships with corporate specifics and private tertiary institutions to conduct psychometric assessments for each admission cycle.

    I am a big believer in mental health and how the proper delivery system can alter lives. Your proposal as it is right now needs some serious work to get me on board. First is your proposal is based on a statement of need within the Snet community, without any data or metrics to support your proposal need basis. Second the web link provided for a company is basically useless imo and provides no info. Third you are seeking a grant from the community for mental health, yet you have none on your team. I suggest you revisit your proposal to prior to Reviews and ratings.

    Hey, man. Good proposal and a great initiative, out of curiosity could please enlighten the community more about your assertion that developers, experts and community members at SNET are working under pressure and stress, I want to be sure if there is any research on this or survey that a certain percentage of feedback collected from the survey made claims correct or it's just an assumption.  Also, can you a little bit update me on how specifically BridgingSpace align perfectly with Singularity NETWORK in promoting the decentralized AI platform. I expect that the project should also focus more on bringing in new user to Singularity NETWORK. Maybe designing some kinds of incentive for the users of the proposed project.  Thank you

    Advice from experts in the field

    This proposal is presented quite well, logical enough and easy to understand. However, I just wonder about one thing: what are the necessary resources to do it?
    Regarding personnel, the team is presenting 6 members (not enough member photos are shown) - are these 6 members enough to carry out all the tasks in the proposal?
    Regarding finances, calling for sponsorship.
    Whether the team consults additional outside experts or not. This is also my advice for the team to refer to. I think experts in this field are necessary so that the team can implement the proposal more easily and correctly.

    Solve other health problems in the future

    Considering feasibility, there is no doubt that this proposal is highly feasible, the purpose of developing a mental health care platform thereby promoting SNET's development. With that vision, can this proposal continue to scale and solve the problem of the health system as a whole in the future? That is the next potential that I want the author to pay attention to (if possible). Then it's no longer just a matter of mental health but other areas of health, of course powered by AI tailored to the developer's needs.

    King Eddie is a reputable figure in the SNET technology world. With the Mental Health Care Platform, it is always necessary for people in the modern world full of stress.     User Data Protection

    As much as this Projects proposed a good initiative, there are lots of certain curiosities that need clarification. 

    I actually made some comments on the discussion, where I asked about how the project perfectly aligned with SNET objectives of decentralized AI platform.

    Also, Another aspect of inquiry is about the assertion made that SNET community works under stress maybe from mental health issues, there is not report to validate the claims that truly the community needs this mental health application. 

    Also, There is now where on this proposal where users data privacy is prioritized when interacting with the model, it would be quite bad if users data can't be protected. In event where I can not be sure if my information can be securely guaranteed it will be needless for for me to use the model when it is important to some confidentiality about one's mental health issues.

    Our data driven approach for securing data and privacy will include:

    • Transport Layer Security (TLS): As a cryptographic protocol, it will be used to secure communications over the internet as well as encrypt all our user data that is transmitted between the BridgingSpace app and the company's servers.

    • Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): SSL is a predecessor to TLS that is still used by some older systems. BridgingSpace will use SSL to encrypt user data that is transmitted between our app and the company's servers. While TLS and SSL encryption will be used during transfer, the AES-256 protocol will be executed at rest.

    • Data loss prevention (DLP): DLP as a set of technologies will be used to prevent data from being lost, stolen, or misused. BridgingSpace therapy.AI will use DLP to protect user data from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, or destruction.

    • Intrusion detection system (IDS): Our IDS will serve as a system that monitors network traffic for malicious activity. BridgingSpace therapy.AI will use IDS to detect and prevent unauthorized access to its systems.

    • Access controls: Control will be limited to authorized personnel who will be provided clearance and access to user data for a specific timeframe. This can be controlled through user permissions and role-based access control.

    • Auditing: We will also regularly audit our app to ensure that the privacy measures are being implemented and enforced appropriately.

    Anonymization: Ensure that all personal identifiers are removed from the data to protect user identity.

    Pseudonymization: Replace private identifiers with pseudonyms to ensure data cannot be attributed to a specific individual without additional information.
