Overview

As SNET embarks on commercializing its current beta marketplace for broader user adoption, it needs to make multiple significant platform updates. These updates include (but are not limited to) simplifying the marketplace UI/UX, streamlining the onboarding process like the Publisher portal, automating backend infrastructure scripts, offering enhancement tools and features such as automatically connecting services and model training supports, rolling out dynamic pricing/monetizing mechanisms, improving documentation like video tutorials, and much more. This proposal allows the greater SNET ecosystem to contribute to these ongoing SNET platform updates and earn compensation for their efforts.

Proposal Description

How Our Project Will Contribute To The Growth Of The Decentralized AI Platform

This RFP will empower and incentivize the SNET community to directly improve and shape the SNET marketplace AI platform itself. As we, the community, are the primary stakeholders of the platform, comprising users, builders, ideators, promoters, and more. Therefore, we should also get a seat in the direction and progression of this platform. This RFP helps to formalize our inputs and contributions to future platform updates, working hand in hand with SNET.

Our Team

We have extensive experience deploying to the SNET platform with our services SYBIL, Onboard NeuralProphet, and more coming soon. From that experience, we have developed meaningful connections with members from both the SNET and community sides, especially with fellow builders. As explained in the Long Description section, these connections are what will really drive our RFP design forward.

Matt and Khellar, for example, will advise us throughout the RFP design to ensure alignment with SNET side.

The core problem we are aiming to solve

The core 'problem' we are trying to solve is getting the SNET marketplace platform ready for broader mass adoption, and making SNET's vision of a decentralized AGI a reality. To do so, the platform must be production-ready, commercializable, and scalable. That means hosting an abundance of fun & useful services on the platform to choose from (e.g., Apple store). That also means it is easy to continually deploy, publish, and monetize new services on the marketplace, as well as upgrading and maintaining existing ones. Services can also automatically buy/sell from each other, forming a web of monetizing AIs that can evolve into an economically self-reinforcing proto-AGI.

Right now, the SNET marketplace platform is improving but still has ways to go to reach that grand vision. It is still in beta and, therefore, not production-ready enough to meet that mass adoption potential. Our solution aims to accelerate the platform's progression by getting the SNET community more directly involved, to aid in SNET's platform update efforts.

Our specific solution to this problem

Our solution is to design an RFP for the wider SNET ecosystem to submit relevant proposals that can further improve and enhance the SNET marketplace platform. This Platform Update RFP is similar to the Tooling pool in the earlier DF rounds but more focused on platform updates. We will work with both SNET and the greater community to set the boundaries and terms/conditions of the RFP. See the Long Description section for some examples.

Project details

RFP design steps

Though not set in stone, here are our steps in gathering the necessary information and writing the platform update RFP:

  1. Work closely with SNET and other fellow community members. Liaise with SNET to understand the platform's next steps, progress, priorities, and critical challenges. SNET point persons that my team and I are currently interacting with include:
    1. Jan and Rafael from the product/DF side
    2. Mike P and Albina from the dev side
    3. Matt and Khellar from the research/business side (also our advisors)
  2. Gather a list of pain points from SNET community members where, from their perspective, the SNET platform can be improved. Whether it is how to deploy and monetize services, use services, view/review services, or others. We will compile this list of pain points, including how frequently they occur and their urgency.
  3. Define the boundaries of the RFP based on the community pain points and SNET's platform update priorities. The community pain points that SNET does not cover or prioritize are the ones most suited for this RFP. In other words, this RFP allows SNET to delegate platform update tasks to the community based on the accepted proposals.
  4. Write an outline and first draft of the RFP. This includes the budget allocation, the scope of proposals allowed (i.e., ideation allowed or not) based on boundaries from 3., whether proposal grants are made by community vote or SNET's sole discretion, and more.
  5. Get the draft reviewed by SNET and make any modifications/corrections. If necessary, have the draft reviewed by the community members as well. For example, from the Awarded Teams Circle, Reviewers Circle, Ambassadors, etc.
  6. Write the final RFP and open it up as a future DF pool if necessary.

Examples Platform Update Categories

Although this will be finalized when we have better defined the boundaries, here are some of the proposals that can fit under this RFP. They can be roughly defined under these categories:

  1. Core: proposals that improve the platform's core functionalities, such as:
    1. automating the service deploying process (i.e. script, Docker files)
    2. providing a platform for native compute hosting services
    3. easy way to spin up a demo on the marketplace
    4. financial/pricing/monetization schemes of the services
  2. Enhancements: proposals that can enhance the UX  or are supplementary features, such as:
    1. user/service reputation systems
    2. automatically searching and connecting services together (though SNET is building something like that called AI-DSL/SNET Assistant)
    3. built-in KGs, LLMs, that can enhance other services on the platform
    4. analytics tools to capture KPIs of platform onboarding and utilization

It can be debatable which above example proposals can be considered core and which are auxiliary. Additionally, there may be some proposals listed above that SNET is already actively working on, therefore outside of this RFP's boundaries. Nevertheless, these proposal examples merely serve as top-of-mind examples of what possible proposals this community-driven platform update RFP could potentially cover.

Our RFP may also consider the type of proposals and their maturity, such as whether the proposal is for ideation or actual implementation of a tool or feature. An additional consideration for tool-based proposals is how they can actually be integrated into the platform at large. They may need a plan to work with the SNET developers, such as creating a pull request (PR) on the existing SNET code base to plug in the proposals' deliverables.

Hi there. Would want to share my thoughts on this. I think this may not find high desirability at the moment, especially considering the fact that the SNET technical team is open to currently iterating and remodelling the currently obtainable design of the SNET Platform. Thanks

I appreciate the idea, but I think this is not the right time to onboard community teams in the platform and onboarding tooling. It will take away valuable time and attention from the team that is now working full force on this. We have a full roadmap of improvements and new features. Once we have a solid foundation this may become an option.

However, we do expect some RFPs soon to help port the marketplace to Cardano!

Allocate time to ensure proposal quality

Kevin should pay attention to the reasonable distribution of time to implement suggestions. Because I know you have some suggestions here in DFR4. Ideas are important, but the quality of the proposal is also of utmost importance. The community and I don't want to see any suggestions from author Kevin that are of poor quality. Thank you Kevin R.C

Simplify technical elements to easy to understand

Kevin RC is a reputable person in Deepfunding, his suggestions seem to favor the construction trend to protect the common environment - very encouraging. This time, it is about creating products to encourage the SNET community to shape and improve the market's AI platform. I feel interested in this proposal, but for some newcomers, it is still something vague and unclear. 7 milestones do not fully describe the significance of the proposal. So I suggest that Kevin can clarify the technical factors applied in this proposal. Thank you Kevin.

This may potentially be useful not immediately

Hi Kevin. I appreciate your intentions to reinvent our currently existing SNET platform. But I feel this might have to wait a little while longer. This is because I sense that the SNET technical team is already committing resources in this regard. You may want to reach out to them to understand their level of work in progress and the challenges they currently encounter. This could help you in redefining this proposal for future rounds.

    Kind regards !

Personal opinion: they should clearly define the start and end times of milestones.

It has potential but requires careful planning

The SNET community-driven platform update proposal has potential but requires careful planning and execution. Focusing on clear communication, a well-structured RFP, strong community engagement, and a defined process for proposal selection and implementation can increase the project's value.

This project proposes a process for the SNET community to submit proposals for improving the SNET marketplace platform (Temporai RFP). Here's a breakdown of its strengths and weaknesses:

    Feasibility:

    • Moderate-High: The project leverages existing RFP processes and builds on the SNET developer community.
    • Strengths: The approach utilizes existing skills and knowledge within the SNET ecosystem.
    • Weaknesses: Clear communication and collaboration between SNET and the community are crucial for success.

    Viability:

    • Moderate: Success depends on attracting high-quality proposals, securing funding for accepted ideas, and integrating them effectively.
    • Strengths: Community involvement can generate diverse ideas and potentially lower development costs.
    • Weaknesses: Enthusiasm and participation within the community, as well as effective project management for accepted proposals, need to be ensured.

    Desirability:

    • Moderate-High: SNET developers seeking to improve the platform and community members wanting more influence could find this valuable.
    • Strengths: The project fosters community engagement and empowers developers to contribute directly.
    • Weaknesses: The value proposition for participants (recognition, rewards) needs to be clear and motivating.

    Usefulness:

    • Moderate-High: The project can be very useful if it delivers well-defined proposals, secures funding, and integrates improvements effectively.
    • Strengths: Community-driven ideas can lead to innovative solutions and a more user-friendly platform.
    • Weaknesses: The long-term impact on the quality and quantity of proposals, as well as successful implementation, requires monitoring.

    Additional Points:

    • A clear and well-defined RFP document with specific guidelines and evaluation criteria is crucial.
    • A fair and transparent proposal selection process with community involvement can increase buy-in.
    • Establishing a system for funding, managing, and integrating accepted proposals is essential for success.

Here are some strengths of this project:

    • Leverages the existing SNET developer community to generate ideas and potentially reduce development costs.
    • Fosters a sense of ownership and engagement among community members by allowing them to contribute directly.
    • Provides a framework for identifying and addressing key pain points in the SNET marketplace platform.

Here are some challenges to address:

    • Ensuring a steady stream of high-quality proposals from the community that meet SNET's needs.
    • Securing funding for accepted proposals, especially for larger or more complex improvements.
    • Effectively managing the integration of community-developed solutions into the existing SNET platform.

By addressing these challenges and focusing on a well-managed process with clear incentives for participation, this project can become a valuable tool for accelerating the development and improvement of the SNET marketplace platform.
