Overview

Of Nectar is a Social Digital Trial platform that allows users to create, or join, self administered studies that look to expand the utilization of clinical trials for at-home applications of health research. This is a use-case of outcome based research that looks to expand our coverage, and estimation, of health effects in everyday people. A user will be able to analyze in a dashboard their own progress in trials overtime, and also compare themselves to different cohorts in the same study. This allows for enhanced coverage of social demographics because the ease of use. Ultimately, we would love to be used in conjunction with the rejuve app as we are developing this codebase in flutter.

Proposal Description

Our Team

We are adept in data science, flutter, and have an experience tranlational clinical researcher as a consultant which we can leverage to help complete and gain synergies.

View Team

Company Name (if applicable)

Of Nectar

Please explain how this future proposal will help our decentralized AI platform grow and how this ideation phase will contribute to that proposal.

We intend for Of Nectar's social clinical trials to accentuate the functionality of the Rejuve health app. We have had brief contact with representatives there, and believe our application can enhance the usecase of Rejuve and open up new human health research. The ideation phase will contribute to the proposal in that it will generate a flutter MVP that would ultimately be merged into Rejuve. The accumulated data from social trials will help contribute to the adoption of decentralized, and low cost, health services.

Clarify what outcomes (if any) will stop you from submitting a complete proposal in the next round.

We will submit a complete proposal. We have interest from some local (USA based) hospital groups that we would like to beta with. The largest barrier is if Rejuve does not wish to have us as an add on application, in which case we will go it alone.

The core problem we are aiming to solve

Expensive, and selective, clinical trials do not let us study all of the issues that plague human health. We want to open up health research to everyone, for everyone, by allowing indepth analysis covariates with health outcomes. Additionally, we intend to help research institutions find viable users for their own studies to help generate income for users.

Our specific solution to this problem

A flutter based application for creation, analysis, and joining of social clinical trials.

Existing resources

We would like to leverage Rejuve's platform for deployment.

Hey there. I am concerned that this is an ideation stage, but its milestone focuses solely on MVP development. This question if this project is really fit for the ideation pool. I hope the team can address these concerns. Thanks

The purpose of the ideation pool is that it is "Designed to support the preliminary stages of AI project development. This pool serves as a springboard for refining ideas and preparing them for more substantial funding rounds in the New Projects pool." The development of an mvp is in our opinion the best method for refining ideas as is the objective of the ideation pool, this is because it allows for the testing and study of the very thing we intend to build. By completing the mvp early on, we are allowed more time to chat with possible users about how to make the platform most amicable, perhaps one of the most useful things one could do in the ideation phase.

Many people try to do self-experimentation by building hypotheses, logging data with health apps and taking various tests. I mean there is desire and appetite to something like you are envisioning. Such a system would empower individuals and give them opportunities to contribute in the field.     You don’t provide much technical information. How long could the MVP construction be expected to take?

Development of the MVP will take approximately 4 months, part of this would also be conversations with Rejuve to understand 1) if they would like us as a feature in their app, and 2) what should Of Nectar look like to entice users to actively participate. I did not want to bog down the ideation application with technical requirements, and thus we see a lack thereof in the ideation proposal. Since the goal of this ideation project is in fact an MVP I wanted to allow us flexibility during development to meet both the timeline and the requirements for recording, and visualizing, appropriately the social clinical trials. The full application to come in future cycles will feature more indepth technical details as we finalize feedback from Rejuve, and the community throughout our ideation proposal horizon.

Super important with strong growth drivers

    Feasibility

This is quite an ambitious ideation proposal as the goal is already to build the MVP. What kinds of functionalities and social structures there will be is interesting to see. There are not any fundamental barriers to creating this platform.

    Viability

Verifying viability of a project requires either a strong track record, a detailed understandable roadmap or both. The proposal does not provide much information on either. I really have no reasons to doubt the claim of capabilities regarding data science, flutter or clinical research. In addition, I suppose, potential challenges are primarily conceptual instead of directly technological, especially in the case of MVP. Still, from a complete outsider this information scarcity asks for a little bit of pure faith.

    Desirabilty

The healthcare and medicine industries are screaming for these kinds of solutions. Breaking down monopolies, gatekeepers, hippocracy and other plagues releases tons of untapped value and potential. It accelerates scientific progress and brings benefits to end-users faster. The value from this progress gets distributed to match the real contributions better than before. It enables more researchers and other players to participate in the process, thus, making the competition more inclusive and intelligent.

    Usefulness

Different types and synergistically operating AI algorithms have several industries to disrupt. One of these is definitely biomedical research which requires well-targeted data points to do exploration and test hypotheses on. The proposed platform is designed to organize this data collection.

SingularityNET platform is growing in many different AI tools that can take a great advantage of this system.

Personal comment: In the milestones section, they should add more information about the start and end times of the milestones. Furthermore, they should break down tasks into at least two milestones.
Next, they should look for more members to carry out this project. Team is a very important factor to evaluate feasibility.

    Clarity should be expressed

I appreciate the ideators of this. I am however concerned about the lack of relevant details. The team segment is lacking in details making it difficult to access the viability of this project. Additionally, the milestone segment should be broken down into sub tasks that would allow transparent evaluation by the DF community.

    Thanks

Hey, I addressed this in one of the comments to another user but since the goal of this ideation project is in fact an MVP I wanted to allow us flexibility during development to meet both the timeline and the requirements for recording, and visualizing, appropriately the social clinical trials. The full application to come in future cycles will feature more indepth technical details as we finalize feedback from Rejuve, and the community throughout our ideation proposal horizon. So this lack of clarity in technical specs is caused by this willingness to keep most flexible our features and platform as we develop through the ideation period of approx 4 months.

Good idea but lacking information and planning

While the idea seems very interesting, it would be good to have a little bit more information and effort put into explaining the proposal

We would like to understand the dimension of the problem, why hospitals are willing and interest in utilizing this app and paying for it, as well as why it would be the best app to solve this problem.

An eventual partnership with Rejuve is also very interesting, but it would be good to dive deeper into exactly what would this project add differently from what Rejuve is doing, and why Rejuve would eventually be interested and benefit directly from such a partnership for the Community to understand the likelihood of an eventual partnership and the usefulness of this proposal.

There is also very little information about the Team. It would be good to understand who will be the Team, their experience, skillset, and track record, to understand if they are fit to deliver on the proposal.

This proposal and idea sound promising but more information would need to be shared for me to be confident in terms of what is going to be delivered.

The use case is not necesarily that hospitals will use the app itself, but that in certain situations where decentralized trials are not applicable the app would have a large pool of patient statistics that would help hospitals choose patients for their studies more efficiently. This is a large market in and of itself and hospitals already accrue this expense with which we would be able to offer a cheaper alternative way to find patients.

The use of decentralized clinical trials is not new in and of itself, this proposal however is novel in that it allows users to be the ones to create and join their own studies, bringing the power of study into the hands of the everyday person, in the location in which they would take on health remedies, at home.

Rejuve allows you, from my understanding, track personal data through time. Of Nectar aims to track structured data sets of health studies per and individuals and analyze this across individuals to study the effects of various covariates on health outcomes. Complementary, but unique. The rationale for the Rejuve partnership is that they have in their roadmap Clinical trials outlined, and we think we can expediate their timeline as we are working towards similar goals.

I agree that the proposal is somewhat thin, but I do try to explain in detail in the comments. The purpose for the thin nature of the description is that we have a tight deadline, a low budget even if granted the requested funds, and so we are interested in keeping the most flexibility in design so that we do not overpromise and fail to deliver. We would much rather suprise to the upside.

a platform for self-administered clinical trials

This proposal outlines "Of Nectar," a social platform for self-administered clinical trials focused on expanding health research at home. Here's a breakdown of its strengths and weaknesses:

    Feasibility:

    • Moderate: The core concept is feasible, but technical development and user recruitment pose challenges.
      • Strengths: The use of Flutter for mobile app development simplifies cross-platform compatibility.
      • Weaknesses: Building a user base and ensuring data quality in self-administered trials require careful planning.

    Viability:

    • Moderate: Success depends on user adoption, hospital partnerships, and potential integration with Rejuve.
      • Strengths: The proposal addresses a genuine interest in expanding clinical trial participation.
      • Weaknesses: The proposal lacks details on the business model and how to incentivize researchers and participants.

    Desirability:

    • Moderate-High: For individuals interested in health research and contributing to medical knowledge, this could be desirable.
      • Strengths: The proposal offers an accessible way to participate in clinical trials from home.
      • Weaknesses: The proposal needs to clearly explain the potential risks and limitations of self-administered trials.

    Usefulness:

    • Moderate-High: The project has the potential to increase participation in health research, but its impact depends on data quality and collaboration with institutions.
      • Strengths: The proposal offers a platform for collecting data on health outcomes in everyday life.
      • Weaknesses: The proposal lacks details on how to ensure data privacy and security, and how to meet regulatory requirements for clinical trials.

Overall, the Of Nectar project has a promising idea, but focus on:

    • Data Quality and Security: Develop strategies to ensure data accuracy and participant privacy in self-administered trials.
    • Regulatory Considerations: Research and address any regulatory hurdles associated with collecting health data through a mobile app.
    • Incentive Structure: Define a clear value proposition for both researchers and participants to encourage participation.
    • Rejuve Integration Strategy: Develop a more concrete plan for integrating Of Nectar with the Rejuve app, considering user experience and potential technical challenges.

    Strengths:

    • Addresses a need for expanding access to clinical trials.
    • Leverages Flutter for a potentially user-friendly mobile app.
    • Potential for collaboration with hospitals and research institutions.

    Weaknesses:

    • Needs to address data quality, privacy, and regulatory concerns.
    • Lacks a clear business model and incentive structure.
    • Rejuve integration strategy requires further development.

By addressing these considerations, Of Nectar can become a valuable tool for democratizing health research and contributing to medical advancements.

You fail to acknowledge that this is an ideation proposal. Many of your described weaknesses seem to ignore this, for example, Rejuve integration strategy requiring further development which I already pointed out in the proposal.

Your comment reads very much as AI generated, perhaps you could reevaluate your thoughts.

How to create credibility for yourself

I am somewhat disappointed that Ryan Kim Cuong, the founder of Nectar, did not reveal his identity in this proposal. Especially when Ryan Kim Cuong is the project owner. Why must it be so anonymous? With this anonymity, I know absolutely nothing about the team. Sincere advice is to reveal yourself to create credibility for the author himself.
