Overview

Launched by experts in blockchain and academics to solve a problem that has plagued humankind since the dawn of history and affects everyone today as it did in eras past: 'How can I demonstrate I really have the knowledge and abilities I claim?' The ability to answer this question may determine one's wealth and happiness. Before this project, the best answer, for those who could afford it, was to invest money and time into obtaining a degree from an accredited university. However, this option excludes billions and is highly flawed.

The core problem we are aiming to solve

At a time when the global employment force is being massively disrupted:

  • 98% of our knowledge and capabilities are non-demonstrable and non-provable
  • Outside of the Academic world, proof-of-learning is chaotic, pedagogical
repulsive, and largely ignored for good reason
  • Formal education covers less than 1% of subjects people learn

also...

  • Anticipated massive disruption of the job markets will flood institutions beyond their capacity
  • Hours spend reading books, blogs, and watching videos are not demonstrable
  • Inequity in educational opportunity
  • Personal branding is difficult when GenAI can create content on any topic
  • There is not standardized testing accross online learning platforms
  • Ad Hoc Online certificates are becoming meaningless and reflect the optimal pass/fail rate for subscriptions.
  • Rewards for continuous learning are delayed causing a lack of incentive especially for young people.
  • Free univerity courseware in the commons domain often doesn't provide proof-of-learning
  • Companies often unecessarily hire for skills they already have

Our specific solution to this problem

ICanProveIt works by bringing testing methodologies with sound pedagogical underpinnings to make meaningful proof-of-learning certificates available on almost any topic.

Curated Repository Of Commons Material

ICanProveIt creates a curated repository of books and documents with human-in-the-loop verification to establish a verifiable repository. Over time, a “humans in the loop” will be unnecessary. Blockchain will provide provenance of source material .

Synthesize Tests from texts the user has learned

Learners can upload their learning material which can be books, links, videos..., these materials are matched with material in the curated repository. ICanProveIt will then generate an exam for the uploaded content but conformant with the curated material.

Grade Test, Generate Certificate

Learners will be able to take an exam on material they have learned and receive a sharable digital certificate of learning confirmant with W3C VC-EDU standard . (Fuixlabs has participated in development of VC-EDU standard built software for issuers of the VC-EDU standard).

Project details

Please read the full whitepaper at the link below:

Competition and USPs

Competition

  • University Courses -  too expensive, limited scope
  • Online Courseware - They will be become our customers, low brand recognition and high touch. Not standardized and not respected.
  • HackerRank - (https://www.hackerrank.com/ ).  limited scope to programming. Not pedagologically based
  • Free online University Courses - usually they don't offer any certificates

USP

We allow continuous learners, who learn in 100s of different ways, to receive the same proof-of-learning they would get from a university.  However, our self-verifying certificates cover most subjects at a fraction of the cost and are standardized across learning environments.

Existing resources

We will use Dominium a mature implementation of the DID standards. Certified implementer of the VC-EDU standard.

challenge of demonstrating knowledge and skill

This proposal addresses the challenge of demonstrating knowledge and skills through a blockchain-based platform. Here's a breakdown of its strengths and weaknesses:

    Feasibility:

    • Moderate: Developing the core functionality (testing and certificate generation) is achievable.
    • Strengths: The proposal leverages existing technologies (blockchain) and focuses on a well-defined user need.
    • Weaknesses: Creating a vast, curated repository of learning materials and ensuring sound pedagogical underpinnings for tests require significant effort.

    Viability:

    • Moderate: Success depends on gaining widespread adoption from learners, educators, and employers.
    • Strengths: The proposal addresses a growing demand for verifiable proof-of-learning beyond traditional degrees.
    • Weaknesses: The proposal lacks details on the business model, cost of user certificates, and potential resistance from established educational institutions.

    Desirability:

    • Moderate-High: For learners seeking to showcase their knowledge and employers seeking verified skills, this is desirable.
    • Strengths: The proposal offers a potentially more accessible and standardized alternative to traditional degrees.
    • Weaknesses: The proposal needs to address concerns about the credibility of self-generated learning materials and the platform's ability to assess complex skills.

    Usefulness:

    • Moderate-High: The platform can promote continuous learning and facilitate a more skills-based job market.
    • Strengths: The proposal offers a way to document and verify learning outside of formal education systems.
    • Weaknesses: The proposal lacks details on how the platform will ensure the quality and relevance of its assessments and certificates.

    Competitive Advantage:

    • Focus on continuous learning and a wider range of subjects beyond programming.
    • Standardized certificates based on verified learning materials.

Overall, ICanProveIt has the potential to disrupt the traditional credentialing system. However, focusing on:

    • Developing a robust and credible curation process for learning materials to ensure test validity.
    • Partnering with educational institutions and employers to gain wider acceptance and recognition for platform certificates.
    • Exploring a sustainable business model that balances affordability with maintaining platform quality.

    Useful study support

I highly appreciate ICanProveIt and consider it a good tool to promote my own continuous learning. It has proven its superiority that few other products have - the characteristic is that it can serve more subjects/more skills. In general, it is also comprehensive in its impact on individuals and the SNET ecosystem - this has been shown

Affordable alternative to obtaining school degrees

I am quite attracted to the cost effectiveness this innovation can potentially bring in the realm of the academia. This it because it offers a more affordable alternative to obtaining degrees from accredited universities, making skill validation accessible to a broader audience. Additionally, it utilizes blockchain technology to ensure the authenticity and integrity of credentials, reducing the risk of fraud. This will sought after my multiple employer organizations who are keen on transparency during their employment processes. Good luck !

This proposal addresses the demonstration of knowledge and skills based on Blockchain and AI platforms. Information about their solution is quite short. I hope they will share more relevant information about their solution.
Information about the team is quite clear, they are people with experience and skills suitable for this proposal.
Some other ideas: They should clearly define the start and end times of each milestone. Additionally, they should define more detailed budgets based on milestones.

Hi Nguyen, Thanks for taking the time to review our project. Reading your review I noticed you called out the the lack of information about the platoform. I want to call your attention to the gitbook that was in the links. It contins a 26 page whitepaper on our gitbook and also a technical architecture document.

Thanks again for taking the time to review the proposal.

    Outstanding strengths

The outstanding strength of this proposal is knowing how to take advantage of existing technologies (distilling the appropriate superiority), then determining well the user's needs (seeing clearly what the user needs) - from there Adjust the problem-solving combination accordingly. This is where we can clearly see the usefulness of high technology.

    cooperation between universities

The "ICanProveitit" project has great potential in solving the problem of proving personal knowledge and skills. I appreciate the cooperation between universities, employers and freelancers, along with the use of AI for good purposes. With the participation of Zagros, Professor at Winston-Salem University, and Tim O’Brien, who has 18 years of software development experience, the project leadership team has the ability and experience needed. However, I found the project also faced many challenges, such as ensuring the security and privacy of data, and should be widely accepted by educational organizations and employers. Maintaining and updating the database to accurately reflect skills and knowledge is also a difficult task. However, if they overcome these obstacles, "iCanproveitit" can bring great benefits to society.

    Hi Nicolad,

Thanks for the thouhtful review. I wanted to clarify a couple points. One we don't keep private data, certificates are owned by the exam taker. The corpus of data is largely come from commons,  https://openstax.org/  is a great example. In the case of a copywrite book we would receive the publishers permissiont to extract the semanantic embeddings but not the text itself. TexBooks go through regular review but most subject change slightly over time. Physics and Computer science are excheptions to this.

Again i appreciate your opinion and I think you raise valid points. In this case we have throught this through and we believe removed these obsticles.  ICanProveIt has received a huge response and we are already engaged with schools in the Brox and North Texas, Univeristy system from a US state, and are partnering with the department of edcuation in Thailand.
