Overview

Many people in Africa face severe healthcare challenges due to poverty and limited access to medical facilities. Often, patients need to transfer between local doctors and advanced hospitals, carrying prescriptions and medical records manually. Additionally, poor computer literacy among local doctors and the high cost of repeating low-quality CT scans add further barriers to effective care. Our project aims to address these issues by developing a dual-purpose system. This system will enhance CT scan resolutions and convert spoken medical notes into written records, improving diagnostic quality and streamlining healthcare workflows.

AI inputs

During inference our AI service processes low-resolution CT images and medical audio recordings. Training inputs include a diverse dataset of text voice for ASR and various image types ensuring a well-rounded system that enhances performance across various modalities.

Our specific solution to this problem

 

HealthBridge Tech combines super-resolution CT image enhancement with advanced, multilingual Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) technology to transform healthcare delivery in underserved regions. While initial ASR transcriptions may not be perfect, they provide a solid starting point for medical assessments. Physicians can correct any inaccuracies, and these modifications feed back into our system, continually improving its accuracy through a built-in learning loop. Additionally, the platform allows doctors to upload their own ASR data and CT scans, enabling personalized tuning to better meet specific local needs. This capability ensures that the system evolves over time, becoming more precise and reliable, thereby making medical processes more efficient and effective. Through these innovations, HealthBridge Tech aims to enhance diagnostic accuracy, streamline healthcare workflows, and improve patient outcomes by bridging the gap between technology and clinical care."

Project details

The "HealthBridge Tech" project will unfold through a structured, five-phase approach. **Phase 1** focuses on Data Collection and Initial Platform Development, emphasizing the gathering of a diverse set of CT images and voice recordings from various healthcare facilities. These are essential for training the super-resolution algorithms and the multilingual Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) system. A basic version of the platform will be developed to allow users to upload CT images and voice recordings, collecting valuable feedback on ASR accuracy and image quality. Phase 2 is dedicated to the Development and Enhancement of ASR, refining a system capable of handling multiple languages and integrating user feedback to enhance transcription accuracy, along with improving the user interface based on initial user experiences. Phase 3 involves the Implementation and Optimization of Super-Resolution Algorithms to enhance the clarity and detail of medical images, fully integrating this functionality into the platform and continuously refining its performance.

Phase 4 - Integration into a Single Platform: This phase consolidates all previously developed functionalities—super-resolution imaging, multilingual ASR, and user feedback mechanisms—into a single, seamless platform. The integration aims to ensure that all components work together efficiently, providing a cohesive user experience and facilitating smoother clinical workflows.

Phase 5 - Deployment: The final phase involves the full deployment of the HealthBridge Tech platform across partner healthcare facilities. This phase includes extensive testing to ensure stability and reliability, training for medical staff on how to maximize the platform's benefits, and the establishment of a support system for ongoing maintenance and updates. Additionally, we will monitor the system's impact on healthcare delivery and gather data to inform further enhancements.

Regarding your first question, members of our team have a very specific background in developing AI-driven image enhancement technologies, among them super-resolution. We leverage this experience to fine-tune our solution to medical imaging, where accuracy and reliability are key. On the linguistic scope of the project, we are starting off with major languages spoken across Africa, namely English and French, which are widely used across the continent. At a later date, and as the project matures, we expect to broaden our capabilities by adding more languages, in line with regional needs and user feedback. Partnerships: We are in active discussions with medical facilities from different African countries to ensure diversity in training data that will be representative of all data sets. Such partnerships are important for the development and fine-tuning of our AI models  As for the data storage for the examples provided by the users at the end, security is paramount; we would adopt encrypted cloud storage solutions that match standards, ensuring that both the patient and facility records are kept safe and private. This also facilitates scalability and accessibility, two key elements for wide adoption.     Are there already some existing services regarding the superresolution creation? Your service has the benefit that it is going to launch on the SNET web3 marketplace but are there perhaps any other advantages in your service compared to other ones?    My second question is that, in addition to launching this one holistic service, why wouldn’t you launch these two services (ASR and super-resolution) also independently on the marketplace?    Nevertheless, I like the problem identification, well-targeted use case and wish you success!
