B2Quantum – Quantum Computing Technologies for AGI

Expert Rating

2.6

Overview

B2Quantum, a quantum computing startup founded by software industry veterans, will evaluate and recommend quantum computing approaches to aid OpenCog Hyperon's AGI development. Our team has experience in software development, cloud technologies, machine learning, and quantum computing, and we've successfully consulted for major pharmaceutical companies and government agencies. We'll collaborate closely with the OpenCog Hyperon team to explore practical quantum applications, avoiding overhyped claims. Our approach will consider multiple quantum computing paradigms, including gate-based, annealing, and topological quantum computing.

This RFP seeks to critically evaluate the role of quantum computing in advancing Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). The goal is to distinguish between realistic capabilities and hype, providing clear insights into the practical benefits and limitations of quantum computing for AGI architectures, particularly within the OpenCog Hyperon framework. Part of this should involve interacting with the Hyperon team who've built the existing and in-development MeTTa interpreters.

Proposal Description

Company Name (if applicable)

B2Quantum

Project details

If awarded this project, B2Quantum will thoroughly review and analyze the current state of quantum computing technologies with regards to how they can help the SingulartiyNET team achieve AGI.  In order to do this, we will assess the various technologies and determine which would be helpful to current AGI efforts now and in the future.  We will do this while avoiding overhyping any technologies and provide a realistic estimate of how and to what extent various quantum technologies can be used now and in the future, and what kind of improvements and/or acceleration toward the achievement of AGI can realistically be expected.

We have team members with extensive experience in quantum computing and other modern computing technologies that can provide expertise in this field.  We will go over the applicable literature, speak with and consult with industry leaders, and do hands-on experiments with many of the technologies being considered.  We will collaborate with the Hyperon team to get details and learn more about how various quantum technologies might interface with and enhance OpenCog system, so that AGI can be achieved in a more efficient manner.

The deliverables will include:

* A list of quantum computing technologies assessed and details about their feasibility of use of with Hyperon, relative timeline, and predicted effectiveness in helping to achieve AGI.
* Use cases for any of the quantum computing technologies identified as feasible for working to help achieve AGI
* A recommended roadmap for moving forward with the selected technologies

Open Source Licensing

Apache License

Apache License will only apply to code that delivered as part of this project, whether it is example code, exploratory code, or demonstrative in nature.  We anticipate that much of the deliverables for this project will be textual artifacts, for which open source licensing would not be applicable.

Milestone 1 - Identification of Quantum Technologies

Description

The main purpose of this milestone is to identify quantum technologies to explore as part of this project. This will involve initial research on various quantum technologies and analyzing how they might be applied to AGI systems. Also, developing a detailed project plan for the remainder of the project.

Deliverables

Submission of a comprehensive research plan outlining the quantum paradigms and implementations to be explored. This should include the identification and analyses of several potential quantum approaches and their possible application areas within AGI systems. Proposal of a detailed project plan, including methodologies for evaluating the selected paradigms.

Budget

$20,000 USD

Success Criterion

* Identification of multiple types of quantum technologies * Analysis is completed for each of these technologies with regards to their application to AGI Systems * A detailed project plan for the remainder of the project is created

Milestone 2 - Demonstration of substantial research progress

Description

In this second phase, deeper analysis of each of the identified quantum technologies will be conducted. For each identified technology/paradigm, we will provide a deeper analysis into how the technology can be used to improve parameters like performance, scalability, and cognitive efficiency.

Deliverables

Evidence of substantial progress in the research phase, showcasing deeper analysis of the identified quantum paradigms. This should include initial theoretical or practical findings on how quantum hardware could improve AGI system performance, scalability, or cognitive efficiency.

Budget

$20,000 USD

Success Criterion

Written analysis for each identified quantum technology for how it can be used in the AGI system to improve various parameters.

Milestone 3 - Continued demonstration of research progress

Description

In this third phase, we will continue a deeper analysis of each of the identified quantum technologies. For each identified technology/paradigm, we will update research findings and modifications to the solutions and roles that each quantum technology might play.

Deliverables

Continued demonstration of progress with a focus on substantial analysis and refinement of the quantum paradigms under investigation. Updated documentation should reflect research findings, along with any modifications to the proposed quantum solutions or their potential roles within AGI components.

Budget

$20,000 USD

Success Criterion

Updated written analysis for each identified quantum technology for deeper findings during this phase for solutions and roles in the overall AGI system.

Milestone 4 - Final Stages of Research Progress

Description

In this fourth and final phase, continue the research efforts on the identified quantum computing technologies. Detailed findings on each technology's impact on AGI performance, scalability, and computational efficiency should be noted. Integration approaches and further study paths should be written up for future projects.

This is a competent proposal by an obviously well qualified team but does not go into a lot of detail so it's hard to understand how much insight is being deployed

The proposal is well done and it seems clear the proposer could carry out the given task effectively. It is not clear what particular insight they bring to bear, and they don't suggest to go quite as far as some other proposers in terms of running simulations or doing in depth theoretical analyses.

Good team, but not as comprehensive as it could be.
