Overview

The proposed “AI-Powered Photo Editing Suite” aims to democratize advanced photo editing by providing access to AI-driven editing tools through SNET. This suite will allow users to perform sophisticated edits, like for example outpainting (extending a photo beyond its current boundary) and photo merging (e.g. picking the best short of each face from a set of group photos), using intuitive AI prompts. Targeting social media enthusiasts and professional editors alike, this platform promises transparent operations and clear monetization through SNET without compromising user data, aligning with the principles of open AI development.

Our Team

Our team's main strengths lie in our unique combination of expertise in blockchain development and data science. One of our team members has significant experience in training image manipulation models, specifically for outpainting tasks, and is well-versed in the latest methods and outstanding results in this domain. Both team members are also passionate about photography, adding a personal drive and understanding to the project, as well as access to a photographer community for user testing.

This proposal may contribute to the growth of the SNET platform by attracting a diverse and potentially large user base. Photo editing is relevant to a broad spectrum of users from casual social media enthusiasts to professional photographers. By offering a decentralized alternative, this project addresses the preferences of users who choose not to pay centralized services with their data when editing their personal images.

During the ideation phase, our focus will be on developing initial prototypes and conducting thorough user studies to determine the most desirable features and feasible types of AI models. This phase is crucial for refining our understanding of user needs and technical requirements. By engaging with the community early in the process, we can ensure that the final product is not only technically sound but also aligns perfectly with user expectations and SingularityNET’s mission of promoting accessible, decentralized AI solutions.

One such outcome would be our user studies revealing that either...

a) there's no interest in having an AI assist when editing pictures (unlikely, since it can lead to much better results which much less effort than manual editing) or...

b) users do not care whether they "pay with their data" when using centralized alternatives (may be the case for part of the potential user base, but a large enough part that does care is expected to remain).

Therefore, we consider it very likely that this idea will in fact lead to a complete proposal for a product that has the potential to impact and attract many users in the future. 

The core problem we are aiming to solve

The core problem we are solving is the limited access to advanced, AI-powered photo editing tools. Currently, such capabilities are predominantly centralized and often confined to specific devices or platforms (e.g. Google Photos with certain features only available on the latest Pixel phones), requiring users to "pay with their personal data". Our project will provide an open, decentralized suite of advanced photo editing tools based on SNET that is accessible to everyone, promoting freedom and creativity in digital content creation without the need to share personal data with large centralized entities.

Our specific solution to this problem

Our solution, the "AI-Powered Photo Editing Suite," leverages AI to offer a decentralized platform for photo editing that prioritizes user autonomy without compromising personal data. Utilizing open-source image data from public platforms like Unsplash and Flickr, along with other open datasets, provides extensive training material for our AI models.

We will implement foundational image tasks such as inpainting, outpainting, and object recognition using advanced techniques like convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and generative adversarial networks (GANs). These capabilities enable complex edits, such as object removal or repositioning, drawing from open research on evolving model architectures.

SingularityNET (SNET) facilitates a transparent monetization model, allowing users to access tools on a pay-as-you-use basis without subscriptions, supporting the platform’s decentralized ethos.

The toolset will evolve based on user feedback, with regular evaluations to adapt and extend features that meet the most pressing needs of our community. This adaptive approach ensures the platform remains relevant and aligned with user preferences, fostering a responsive, community-driven development process.

      Hey Gombilla, thanks for your comment! Most (if not all) interesting existing solutions are provided by large internet companies. I see the main advantage of an SNET-based model in not having to "pay" those companies by uploading your personal photos but instead directly paying for the AI service you're using. Additionally, there's the other usual advantages of such a decentralized solutions, e.g. community government over development of future features, open-source access to the code, etc.

    Application specific instruction make easier use

    I note the outstanding usefulness that the AI-powered photo editing function is truly user-friendly. Besides, there is still a limitation that is the lack of convenience and ease of use of this application. The ease of use of a proposal is important because it is whether the viability is strengthened or diminished. This is my suggestion to the team.
