Overview

We propose an Ideation project to design an AI-driven model of a select mangrove ecosystem above and below the water. We will develop technical & visual strategies to model then show in immersive 3D mangroves' effect on carbon sequestration, its role as a nursery for fish & mammal reproduction, and how mangrove trees protect shorelines from erosion & flooding. The user will interact with a conversational avatar to learn more about this important ecosystem.

We will plan through ideation A.I. Marketplace services to SingularityNET which:

  1. Model time-based seasonal changes to a mangrove ecosystem
  2. Model select species behaviour both above the water and below the waterline
  3. Return detailed educational information about complex mangrove ecosystems
  4. Show the mangrove ecosystem changes and plant/insect/fish/mammal species behaviours in a real-time 3D environment, guided by a conversational AI-driven avatar

We don't foresee any impediments to applying with a complete proposal in the next round.

The core problem we are aiming to solve

Mangroves play a vital role in climate stabilization and biodiversity. The complexity of this ecosystem can be difficult to express to non-experts. We seek to portray the science experientally for interested public, students, and proponents of biodiversity.

Our specific solution to this problem

Ideation of how an AI model would be designed that is capable of outputting:
1. Local area mangrove tree growth based on environmental factors
2. Time-based species reproduction and refuge in mangrove roots underwater, and in branches above water

Further, we would ideate how to portray this environment in an immersive Unity 3D world guided by an AI Avatar.

Our team

Kenn Mayfield is experienced with AI-driven real time 3D environments for STEM, entertainment, coworking and counselling. Kenn and Carbix Corp produced the Carbix MVSE metaverse for Deep Funding Round 1, Soil Moisture Ideation for Round 3, and Flood Risk in A Complex Virtual World. Showing science through immersive 3D is an absolutely joyful mission.

Milestone 1 - Contract Signing Appointment w/ Mangrove advisor

Description

Contract signed and appointment set to discuss which aspects of mangrove ecosystem to focus on and factual sources to study. Commencement of research into the body of work involving mangrove ecosystems their adaptations to salt water how they stabilize shorelines during storm events effects of climate change and the species lifecycles who rely on mangroves as their nursery.

Calendar appointment with mangrove ecosystem expert and a list of initial science sources & research papers.

Milestone 2 - First iteration of Ideation document - Species

Description

First draft of a research document specifying mangrove ecosystem characteristics locations (it is expected we'll focus on mangrove areas at or near the Bay of Bengal) tree and bush species underwater fish species and above ground mammal & bird species. The document shall include citations of research papers & publications used in its writing.

Deliverables

PDF document of research into science fact of mangrove ecosystems intended to be a guide for further ideation.

Milestone 3 - Second iteration document - Technical Architecture

Description

The Ideation document will be updated with technical strategy to A.I. model development in a subsequent round and samples of 3D models which would be used in a full proposal based on the results of Milestone 2's research document.

Updated PDF document with A.I. technical architecture and relevant 3D model examples pertinent to the results of our research document.

Milestone 4 - Final Doc Market Research & Clickthrough Prototype

Description

For the final milestone we will complete the document with a proposal outline suitable for a subsequent full funding round. We will create a clickthrough prototype which shows a Mangrove tree shoreline and water at close proximity. Preliminary market research will be conducted especially within the educational and science centre markets.

    Kenn nothing trumps experiential learning, and that is what solutions like the one you are building are very effective for, students or whoever will be using this solution will benefit by being more conscious and taking responsible actions towards preserving mangroves. What I would love to know is the opensource strategy of the project as I would love to know if others can build on top of it, but overall very good project

Possibly, the behavioural models of select species, or perhaps more importantly coastal effects of climate change?As always, thank you for your thoughtful comment and brilliant leadership.

    This project in many ways, raises awareness about the value of mangrove ecosystems. The project promotes advocacy for their conservation and restoration, aligning with the SNET marketplace's commitment to social and environmental responsibility.     As we both know, mangroves are essential, complex, a nursery for animals, birds and fish, a balancer of carbon and a stabilizer of shorelines. Truly a world within a world ecosystem. I hope to be successful planning out representation in AI and virtual space of these wonders.

    There should be citations to relevant documents

    Citations of relevant literature are what I would like to find in this proposal. Documents related to the mangrove ecosystem (can be articles, scientific studies... by different authors). There are also documentary sources or technology citations applicable to this proposal. Those things are very important to make it feasible. Hopefully this opinion of mine will be useful for your reference and if it helps you a little, even better.     I'm a fan of citations. Part of what draws me to this kind of project is to combine science fact with interactive virtual worlds. Magroves in particular are layers upon layers of life. 
    If successful in competition, reasearch and citations will be the first step. I'll update milestones to reflect this.

    Continue waiting to see the division of labor

    Thank you to the author for providing the full linkedin link so I can verify the profile. I'm actually very impressed with this author - Mr. XyrisKenn. It certainly takes more time to perfect the team. I think the more high-quality members there are, the easier and smoother the work will be. And I also need to know more about the specific task assignment for each member - thus demonstrating professionalism in the division of labor. Overall, factors such as feasibility, etc. are quite worthy of recognition. It was a team effort - a commendable effort in the cause of environmental protection, specifically mangrove forests.

    Emphasize impact and applied technology

    This idea of a mangrove ecosystem is very good for the general environment today. Especially good for countries with areas covered by mangroves. Reading through the 4 milestones, I realized that the main tasks involved were preparing documents and meeting with experts. Perhaps more emphasis should be placed on the proposal's impact on the SNET ecosystem/community and the technological techniques related to AI SNET so that the proposal is suitable for the topic and sponsor.

    Hello Max1524, thank you for commenting. I agree, and will refocus this ideation proposal on the services we would build for SingularityNET. These would include predicting ecological changes and behaviour of animal species dependent on mangrove ecosystems. 

    We could also look at linking these services to larger climate data, and look closely at the microbiology taking place in magrove forests and shorelines.
